‘Iran entitled to respond to any negative move on its nuclear program’

Tehran, IRNA - Iran's Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office and International Organizations in Vienna Mohsen Naziri-Asl has said that Tehran reserves the right to respond to any negative move about its nuclear program.

Naziri-Asl, who also serves as Iran's envoy to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), said in an interview with Arabic-language television channel Al Mayadeen on Tuesday that a recent visit by the IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi to Tehran was very significant because it set a framework for cooperation between Iran and the IAEA for the upcoming weeks and months.

He said Iran is committed to supply to the IAEA the information it needs within the UN nuclear watchdog’s legal frameworks, adding that Iran and the IAEA will continue to cooperate to reach their objectives.

Grossi visited Iran last week to discuss outstanding issues regarding Iran’s nuclear program. He expressed optimism about the future of Iran’s cooperation with the IAEA following his consultations with the Iranian authorities in Tehran.

The visit came as Iran and world powers continue their efforts to revive a 2015 international deal on Tehran’s nuclear program some five years after US government pulled out of the agreement and imposed sanctions on Iran.
